Mmmm Mmmmm bye.
Are you a “mmmm mmmm bye” person? I’m not sure if it’s even fair to ask that question because I don’t think most people who say mmm mmm bye even realize they do it. I just started to notice this recently, and it amazes me how many people do it. The next time you are on the phone with someone, and it is time to say your closing salutation, listen to what the other person says. You might just hear them say “ mmmm mmmm bye” , or some variation there of.
I think it some how evolved form some perfunctious things people say at the end of a call to be polite even if they don’t mean it. It makes no sense whatsoever, but I think it evolved from people saying “uh-hu, bye” when the person on the other end of the phone says thank you at the end of a call. “ Yadda yadda yadda yadda, thanks for your help.” Then the ever so impersonal and almost but not quite polite reply: “Uh-hu, bye”. Could this be it? The origin of mmm mmm bye? If so how and why did it go from “Uh Hu bye”, which is bad enough, to mmm mmm bye. Also, when did we stop using it in context and just us it at the end of every call? I think I could tell people to go to hell, and they will still say “Mmm mmm bye”.
Do you guys do this? Do you realize you do it? Can you tell me why you do it or what your variation of it is?
I was inspired long ago by my buddy JR’s school ID to always have fun with my ID pictures. I made a big mistake and let my license expire after my last birthday. TRAGEDY!!! I had to go get a new picture taken and this one is shameful compared to my old one. My old picture was a classic. That ID won me drinks, made people laugh and cracked the ice with even the coldest waiter/waitress. At one point I had matching school ID’s and work ID’s to support the effect. Everybody loved my dumb/goofy license picture except cops. I only found one cop who thought it was funny and the others had zero sense of humor about it. I’m pretty sure cops have their sense of humor removed at Cop Camp.
I don’t know what happened this time. I lost my mojo. I think the ice cold and angry “ I have been doing this same boring job for 20 years, and might come in to work tomorrow with a shotgun and kill everyone” attitude that the DPS attendant who helped me had might have sucked the goofy smile out of me.
I also noticed that I haven’t updated how tall I am on there since I was 16. Not that I’m 6′3” or anything…but just found it funny.
What do you guys think? Should I try to get another pic, or should I wait it out until 2011?

We went to see Ian Moore play at the Granada last night. He was playing with the full band, and as always it was a great show. None of my pictures turned out worth a damn, hope you can forgive me for the dull post! I think that is the 6th time that I have seen him, and the 2nd time I have seen the full band show. He has 3 types of shows that I’ve seen: Full band, Solo, and Ian and Kullen. Of the three, I have to say that the full band is my least favorite. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a great show, and this full band show was better than I’ve seen it before, but there is just something about the smaller shows that I really enjoy. His play list on the full band shows is a lot more “roky” and he plays a lot of his music that I’m less familiar with. Some of the subtile quality of his voice and music can be drowned out a little bith with a 4 man band. His solo and 2 man shows are more mellow and more pure to me. Ian also takes more time at the smaller shows to talk about the music and explain the music and give you the full story behind his work.
He did slow this show down for a few songs and played with just he and Kullen for 3 or 4 songs. Along with this play list, he also played a few songs from his upcoming album. I liked a few of them, but they got mixed reviews from the rest of the group.
Ian is an incredible musican and puts on great live shows. You really should go check him out if you get a chance! You can hear samples of his music on iTunes if you search for Ian Moore in the music store. There is good information and a schedule on his webpage.

I think I’m going to take a page out of Rob’s webpage:
Just some random pics of the last 24 hrs that I thought might be fun to share. I’ll have another full post later today if time lets me.

Man, I’ve been so busy with work that I can feel my brains melting through my ears!!! I thought I would give a quick update/rant on a few things before my next well thought out post.
Fitness Journal: Things are still going well. Down about 9 lbs at this point and really starting to see the changes. My arms/shoulders/legs have all started to show more definition and my belly is on the way to being totally devoid of fat. At last measure, I think I was down just over 2 inches off of the gut. 24: Last nights show was kind of slow, and the Kim Bauer coming back in episode 5 rumor turned out not to be true. This is because I’m an idiot and because I’m an idiot I misread the IMDB report. It looks like she will be in season 5, episode 7-10, not episode 5. I think this will be an easy way to create yet another twist in the story and anohter awkward moment when Jack has to see someone who thought he was dead. The directors/producers last year said they wanted to bring her back to be another one of Jack’s last phone calls before he went underground (then ended up just going with Palmer). My guess is that she will come in at the end of Episode 7 as the cliff hanger. Hopefully next weeks show will speed back up. Click the headlines here for more 24 blog posts
Life: I’ve started to give up on girls in general. Friends, family and otherwise… I can’t seem to win lately. Need to move into the bayou into a little log cabin with a shotgun and a salty old dog. I’ll grow a beard and lose myself in a jug of moonshine.
